It's not a joke driving around the metro, especially in EDSA! Don't get me wrong, I braved EDSA two years ago, but with a driving instructor. LOL. Yes, I already kind-of-know how to drive after I graduated from college. However, I never really tried driving alone until the time came that I just have to do it because my father was leaving for Cebu due to work. So, I'm left dealing with the errands, which also means learning to drive all by myself.
Meet your friendly driver. Don't worry, this was taken at the parking area
and I securely fastened my seat belt before stepping on the gas.
In my weeks of driving around the city, I've learned a few lessons that might be applicable too to those who are still learning.
1. Don't be afraid to use the horn, if necessary.
This will save you, I swear.
2. For you to know if you're in your lane, look at the side mirror. If you see the solid line that separates the road, then you have nothing to worry.
Before, I'm always afraid that I might knock off the side mirror of the car coming from the opposite direction. LOL
3. The vehicle in front of you is not always right. So, think before you follow.
I followed this car once because I thought the traffic light says it's safe to continue, but it turned out he was beating the red light. Unfortunately, I did the same by following him. Very wrong move!
There might still be a lot to learn along the way. Just remember these two important quotes:
"Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try." AND "Experience is the best teacher."
Never forget to wear your seat belt and always drive safely!
