Packing 101

I'm sure with a lot of airline promos lately, most of you are already planning to travel this year. Traveling via plane is by far the easiest and most convenient way to go from one country to another, but nobody usually mentions how hard it is to be waiting before boarding for a flight. One needs to be at the airport 4 hours before an international flight departure and up to 2 hours before a domestic flight.

So, here's my list of 15 travel must haves for my carry-on luggage. Be sure to pack everything hours (or one day) before heading to the airport, to avoid leaving anything behind. I like taking a backpack with me as my carry-on because I can stash a lot of stuff inside.

1. Passport - This is the most important thing you should never forget especially if you're taking an international flight.

2. Flight ticket - You can have it printed or just save it in your smartphone. Thank heavens for technology.

3. Valid ID - Driver's license, company ID, SSS, TIN ID, Voter's ID, etc. This is important to validate your passport and ticket, so just prepare at least two valid IDs.

4. Cash - For emergency purposes. You might get hungry inside the airport, who knows right? LOL!

Note: I suggest you buy yourself a passport/ travel organizer, where you can neatly store the first four things I mentioned.

5. Cellphone - Stay connected and make use of the free airport WiFi. Haha! Enjoy!

6. Fave read - I prefer bringing a book instead of reading through my device. This will surely help you kill time while waiting at the airport or during your flight.

7. Pen and Notebook - You can use your phone to remind you of the things you need to remember, but I prefer the traditional pen and paper. Besides, I love writing basically anything I can think of, hence I need these. LOL!

8. Travel pillow - Need I say more?

9. Powerbank - Smartphone batteries drain easily, so keep your powerbank always ready. There are free sockets at the airport too, but you don't want to stress yourself looking for one, right?

10. Cellphone charger - This is like the twin of your smartphone, forgetting this is a crime. LOL!

11. Scarf - It can get really cold at the airport and inside the aircraft. It would be much better if you bring a jacket or cardigan with you, or actually anything that can keep you warm.

12. Snacks and Water bottle - Save a few bucks and bring with you some snacks. Most airports prohibits you from bringing water inside. What you can do instead is bring an empty water bottle and refill it using water fountains found inside the airport.

13. Camera - You need to document your travel. Yes, from the airport to your destination. Haha! And I know taking selfies can somehow ease the boredom.

14. Earphones - Soundtrippin' while waiting. Put that playlist into play.

15. Map/ Notes/ Guides - Familiarize the place where you are heading. Re-read what you have researched, check the maps, and write notes.

There you go! I know packing is one of the most tiring things to do before travelling, but if you already have the list, then it can be as easy as 1-2-3. Of course it still depends on your priorities.

Speaking of priorities, there's nothing more convenient than having a car waiting for you the moment you arrive at the airport. You don't have to go through the hassle of waiting for a cab or taking the subway.

With RelayRides, a traveler can easily access the city by renting other people's car. Also, they have rental cars at airports across the country. Check out this link and make it a guide to your next adventure. To know more about them, watch the cute video below.

For now, they're only available around US (except New York). Let's hope they'll expand their community soon and make it to the Philippines. I can't wait to explore one city to the next without the inconvenience of commuting.

So, where are you heading this year?
