Foodgasm: Fat Cousins' Diner

Sunday is Neil and I's date day because he has a regular job on Saturdays. Last weekend, after helping me wash the car (because I don't want to spend for a car wash. LOL!), we headed to Maginhawa to look for a good place to eat. We took the road heading to EDSA but felt defeated after not finding any appealing restaurants. I'm not very familiar with the place anymore because a lot has changed. So, we drove back to where we came from. Then, something caught our eyes - it has an interesting name with yellow texts written all over the place's exterior. We also noticed it because a car just drove off from its parking lot, so we took that as a sign. Haha!

Fat Cousins' Diner is the place that caught our attention. Its yellow theme is really catchy and they have unlimited rice. LOL! Their area is small, with more or less 10 tables and chairs inside and a few more outside. We arrived past 1 PM and we were lucky enough to get a table for two. It was still jam-packed even after lunch.

The Menu
They only have a few choices on their menu, and some were not available (Baby Back Ribs and Chicken Barbecue). Good thing is, aside from their unlimited rice, they also have two side dishes (corn bits and carrots and mashed potato), and a drink included in their meal. I hope they'll add more choices on their menu though.
One cannot think well, love well, sleep well,
if on hasn't dined well.

While waiting for the food to be served, we were given a giant cardboard letter instead of the usual table number. It was really cute and fortunately got letter 'N', which (can) stand for Neil. Also, they have mirrors everywhere, which will probably unleash your (inner) vanity. LOL!

Hence this photo is necessary. Haha!

What We Ordered
Neil had an Australian Premium Steak. It was seriously too big for me to consume if it was my order. LOL! I had a Salisbury Steak though. We already ordered two milkshakes to match our (late) lunch when the staff told us that our meals have drinks included in them. We still requested for their milkshakes anyway because they looked enticing. Haha!

We chose a medium rare steak for the Australian Premium, but it I think what they served us was well done. But it still tasted good actually, given the price. If you're looking for an affordable but appetizing steak, then this place is definitely worth a visit.

We were kind of disappointed with how long it took them to serve our milkshakes though. We were already done eating and were just chitchatting when it arrived. I can't say they were worth the wait but it was enough to make me forgive them for serving it late. Neil got Chocolate Milkshake while I ordered Strawberry but we both agreed that the my milkshake tasted better.

The Verdict
I'll give Fat Cousins' a 3.5 out of 5 rating. We would love to come back but we will also give the other food places in Maginhawa a chance. How about you? What restaurants in Maginhawa Street do you think will be worth a try?
Happy Sundate!
